The India Center Project
Research India is in consultations with Dean Farer at the Graduate
School of International Studies to set up a Center for Indo-US
Relations at the University of Denver. We are helping to reach out
to the existing expertise on India in Colorado and trying to set up
a center in the Rocky Mountain Area that will study India
strategically. The transformation in US-India relations and its
impact on international peace and security is creating unprecedented
interest in studying contemporary India and its own strategic vision
of the future, especially in terms of regional security and
political stability along with economic development.
Research India is committed to such fundamental research on India in
a school like the GSIS. Students at the University of Denver have
the opportunity to study historical and contemporary India, Hindi,
Hinduism and we envision a program that may develop into a minor,
even a major, in India Studies. For now, several baby steps towards
the proposed center have been taken.
We have regular roundtables on contemporary Indo-US relations
themes, titled the India Update. We are working with the Indian
American Education Fund (www.iaefseattle.org)
to set up a India Research Scholarship Fund at the Graduate School
of International Studies in Denver. Our website
www.researchindia.org has
regular information about our activities.
